Remembrance Ideas For a Memorial
Creating a meaningful memorial service is a heartfelt way to honor your beloved pet. Whether you choose to keep it private or invite a few (or more) close friends and family, the decision is yours.
Either way, there are many ways to personalize your service and how you want to remember and honor your pet. You might even find that there is meaning and healing in the planning itself. Knowing that you’re creating something rooted in love can bring some solace and comfort.
Here are five Memorial Service ideas and inspirations. I invite you to sign up below for a full list of fifteen remembrance ideas in the Memorial Packet.
Ask people to wear something special
Invite others to wear something that reminds them of your pet, like a certain color they loved, paw print items, or anything meaningful to you.
Have a Memory Jar
With pre-sized slips of paper available, encourage guests to leave a memory or message for the memory jar. Afterwards you’ll have a comforting collection of sentiments to return to whenever you need.
Battery operated candles
Provide battery-operated votive candles (easy Amazon find!) for guests to hold during readings or quiet moments. Afterward, they can place them on a table, perhaps forming a heart shape as a glowing tribute. (real candles would work too, but are less reliable when it comes to staying lit, especially outdoors.)
Have artwork on display
If you have any artwork that’s been created in honor of your pet, display it at the service. Let their memory shine through the creativity and emotion captured in the piece.
Create a Memorial card
Have memorial cards made featuring a photo of your pet and a special sentiment, poem, or quote. Guests who take one will always have a piece of their memory close.
You might find one or two of these that resonate with you. Or maybe they spark new ideas that feel like the perfect fit. Whatever you decide to incorporate will be a beautiful reflection of your love and bond.
